Trenchless Water and Sewer Line Replacement

Whether it’s your water line from the meter or your house sewer, we have the technology to replace it without destroying your yard!

More and more people are choosing the new technology of trenchless pipe replacement. Thanks to trenchless technology, sewer and water line replacement doesn’t mean destroyed yards, ruined driveways or devastated parking lots. Pipe Wrench Plumbing’s non-invasive replacement methods result in far less damage than traditional trenching techniques, creating a far smaller impact on the environment, something we take great pride and responsibility in.

Trenchless technology and Pipe Wrench Plumbing are a winning combination for all of your pipe replacement needs.

Q: How does it work?

Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement:

Pipe Wrench Plumbing uses a technique called “Pipe Bursting” and to date we are the only contractor in the area offering this process. The system works by digging two small holes, one where the sewer exits the building and the other at either the property line or in the street where it connects to the mainline. A steel cable is then threaded through the old sewer pipe and a hardened steel bursting head is attached to one end of the cable. The new pipe (with a 200 year life expectancy) is then attached to the back of the bursting head. At the other end a special hydraulic system is set up which pulls the cable. Once the system has been set up and calibrated, the operator uses a remote control to "pull" the cable and pipe. As it pulls the new pipe through the old pipe, it breaks and splits the old pipe, pushing the pieces out into the surrounding soil. Once the new pipe is pulled into place, it is connected at each small hole, then it is inspected and the holes are filled in. The result is an efficient, cost effective solution with low impact on the environment.

Trenchless Water Line Replacment:

Pipe Wrench Plumbing uses a technique called “Directional Boring.” The system works by digging a small hole at the water meter located near the street. We then set our our special drilling machine at the street and bore underground to your home. A transmitter located in the boring head enables us to gauge direction and depth which allows the operator to steer the head to the desired location (up to 300 feet without breaking the surface). Once we have successfully bored from the meter to the home, the new water service (WIRSBO AquaPex) is attached to the boring head and the operator begins pulling the new pipe back through the hole we’ve just bored. The new service is then connected at both ends, an inspection is performed and the small hole at the meter is filled in. The result is an efficient, cost effective solution with low impact on the environment.

Q: How much does it cost?

This method offers significant savings over trenching, since much of the cost of a water line or sewer replacement job is in the restoration of the property that had been dug up. If your existing service runs under a driveway, sidewalk, retaining wall, flowerbed or parking lot, then this method will be considerably less overall, as our systems help greatly in minimizing restoration costs and those savings can be passed down to you. The biggest difference is that our trenchless systems minimize destruction to your landscaping and hard surface areas such as driveways and concrete. By only digging one or two small access holes the process preserves what otherwise would have to be dug up and replaced by tradtional methods of pipe replacement. The result is an efficient, cost effective solution with low impact on the environment.
