It’s time to make sure that your furnace is working efficiently before colder winter weather hits. Take a few minutes to test out your furnace this weekend! If you notice any problems with your system, these tips will help you troubleshoot a few of the most common furnace problems we encounter.
Common Furnace Problems:
- The Thermostat Isn’t Set Correctly – It may seem simple, but many homeowners don’t have their thermostats set correctly. Before you give us a call, check to make sure that your thermostat is physically set to a “heat” setting.
- Change Your Filters – Many homeowners forget to change or clean their air filters. These filters can get dirty and clogged, limiting air flow through your home. Even though your heating system may be working, the warm air won’t be distributed through your home if the filters are clogged!
- Check Your Electric – Check to make sure that electricity is running to your furnace. Many thermostats have switches that need to be turned on. If the switch is on, and the fan turns on, you have power. If not, it’s likely a different problem with your furnace.
- Find Your Circuit Breaker – Check your circuit breaker to make sure that the circuit that controls your furnace is on.
