3 Easy Steps to Carve a Turkey On Thanksgiving

Picture this: you’re hosting your first Thanksgiving celebration at your home this year! From lavish dishes to an array of sweet desserts, you’re more than ready to give your guests the greatest culinary experience on earth! Right before you’re to about to serve the main dish, you suddenly realize that you’ve never carved a turkey in your life. Instead of asking one of your relatives to carve the bird for you, study these quick, simple Pipe Wrench carving tips:

Step 1: Flip It Over

First and foremost, it’s important to start the carving process on the correct side of the turkey: the breast. Just like starting with the correct side of the filter when you’re cleaning your HVAC unit, it’s pertinent to start with the breast of the turkey since that is the most fragile (and easy to cut). Once you flip the bird over to the breast region, it’s then important to slice the skin between the joints (legs only, for now) — and then pull them away!

Step 2: Slice the Joints

Just like cleaning your HVAC filter, it’s important to cut through (with water) dirt/debris in the smallest of nooks — and the same applies when carving your turkey (minus the water and debris). Once the legs are pulled cleanly from the body, it’s important to locate the nook (joint) where the thigh and drumstick meat (see what we did there?) on each leg. Once you complete this process, you’ll be one step closer to starting your incredible celebration!

Step 3: The Final Cuts

Before you can serve your guests the beautiful turkey you have cooked, there are only a few final cuts that must be made first. After you separate the thighs and drumsticks on each leg, it’s then important to cut the wings of the turkey — which will leave the body as the final cut you must make. When cutting the body of the turkey, just like the waves of within an HVAC filter panel, it’s important to follow the pattern. Before making the first cut on the turkey breast, follow the curves of the bird’s body and cut downward. As you continue you to do this, place all freshly cut pieces on your serving dish. Once you have run out of meat and are only left with bone, then you can serve your beautiful bird to your guests at your Thanksgiving table — and enjoy!
